A week of Fun!!!

The letter of the week is Pp! Room 1 and room 2 made pink pig cup cakes. They were super tasty and fun to make. We all did a great job!

On the WOW wall this week .......... Scarlett, Ollie and Paul for beautiful behavior during reading time and doing a great job practicing their spelling words. Also the whole of room 1! Room 1 had a super awesome writing session and all students worked so hard.

To start the day this week we have been doing partner dancing. We put on slow music and try and make movements to the music for our partner to copy. We are getting pretty good. There are some pretty smooth dancers in room 1.

Room 1 kids love to play in the sand pit. Almost everyone in room 1 created something in the sand at lunch time on Wednesday. We all worked together to make a masterpiece. We are lucky in room 1, as we all like to play together.

In Room 1 we have been learning about working together. We are now using those skills to create a piece of art that will stay in our room for the rest of the year. We have decided to create a whole class portrait. We are using our whole class book fair picture, drawing ourselves in costume and painting the background. When the background is finished we will place the drawings of ourselves in the correct places around the tree and put it on the wall. Keep your eyes pealed for the finished product.

Stopping Demonstration

On Monday we went to a stopping demonstration. It was fun. We learnt a lot of cool new things. Here are some of our thoughts:

  • I liked the bag full of tomato sauce.
  • I liked it when the car hit the cardboard man.
  • I learnt about the speed limit when passing a bus.
  • I didn't like walking a looooooong way. It was stinking hot!
  • Cars don't play on the playground so we should play on the road.
  • We got to play on the playground because it was a long way back to school.
  • We learnt to alway watch where we are going.
  • We learnt the road is not a playground.

    18, 19, 20... Math time in Room 1!

In Room 1 we are starting to learn all about numbers. This week we have had a focus on the numbers 18, 19 and 20. We have been doing forward and backwards counting to 20 and even started learning before and after numbers.
We have been trying to make groups of teddies, dinosaurs and beans to 20 and even make the number from play dough. Teen numbers are pretty tricky but luckily Room 1 is very clever :)

We all have worked very hard but one person in particular worked so hard he was put on the WOW WALL! Congratulations Danny! You are a super star at maths and should be very proud of yourself and how hard you have worked! You worked so quickly and quietly, you even had the chance to go and help others. You are amazing.

    Technology Challenge

Here is Room 1's Technology challenge:
Angus the Ant went to the alligator farm. While he was away a mean ant eater came and destroyed his nest. Can you make a safe home that will protect Angus the ant from the evil ant eaters?

All students had some great ideas and created many different safe homes for their ants. At the end of all the presentations of homes, Maggie got to go around with her play dough ant eater to see if she could sneak in. Luckily the houses where made super safe.
