Kei te peehea koe?

Over the past term in Ruma Tahi,  have been learning how to ask each other how we feel using Te Reo.  We have started to ask a buddy "Kei te peehea koe?" and listening to their response.  We have been using a book to help us with our responses... the favourite at the moment seems to be "Kei te ngenge au." (I am tired)
We are slowly becoming more confident with our response...sometimes we forget and need some help but we will get there!

We chose our favourite response and drew a picture using colours to help show the emotion.  Can you guess what emotion we are showing in these photos?

Terrific Time in Term 2!

The term has begun and it has been a fantastic start. We are all excited to see what this term brings. We had many great times and learnt many new things during Anzac change over, which you got to see on Friday. Our topic this term is related to the Centenary,  I Ngā Wā o Mua - Looking back at the past. How life use to be, clothing, schooling, home life, Matariki and transportation. We even have speakers to share their knowledge.

Here are just some of the things we have started in Room 1:

Our Letter of the week in room 1 week 1 was M. We learnt many things about the letter M. We did a brainstorm of all the things we know that start me M including Maggie Mae the leader of the day. We even made monkey masks.

We Learnt a dance to go with the letter M 'The Muffin Man' This was also our poem of the week . Here is a link to the dance so you can see what and how we learnt and give it ago at home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDO4Omz6F-8

During Maths the Starfish have been learning about peers to 5. We worked out that there is more than on way to make 5.  We used number lines and teddies or beads and string to work this out. Our next steps will be peers to 10.

I hope everyone has had a great first week and are excited for the rest of the term. I look forward to keeping in touch through the blog. Feel free to leave comments and share these with the children.
