It's Fractions time!

Room 1 has been learning about fractions! We have focused on halves, quarters and are looking at thirds.

We looked at what a whole is, then broke that whole into pieces. 

• When a whole is broken into 2 equal pieces it is halves.
• When a whole is broken into 3 equal pieces it is thirds.
• When a whole is broken into 4 equal pieces it is quarters.

Once we new what a whole, half, thirds and quarters were, we began breaking groups of teddies in halves, quarters and thirds.

 

We also broke up these circles into fractions and found 1 whole, 2 halves, 3 thirds and 4 quarters.
